Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is India's first fully residential Open University. It was established on 2nd September 1985 under the Karnataka State Open Universities Act, 1984. KSOU offers more than 150 study programmes in General Studies, Engineering & Technology, Management Sciences, Health Sciences etc with about 300 study centres across the country with 2 off-campus centres in London and Dubai. SPOC uses it for teaching basic OOP concepts. Build a computer – Using LEGO – A great tool for teaching children to program and write BASIC programs using LEGO Code-Golf – a program to teach programming concepts with a few problems easy enough for kids to understand. It has been used by KSOU for teaching basic OOP concepts along with Scratch programming. In June 2014, 18 software engineers from the KSOU were deployed to HacDAS (Huddersfield and District Advancement Society) and worked on an interactive website on “Gender inequality: how we can tackle it”. The football team of KSOU has been participating in the Inter University Measuring Programme (IUMP) competitions for the past 4 years and has won 2nd position twice. So far (2014), 5 students from KSOU and 1 student from KLE (Karnataka Lingayat Education) University have participated in the IUMP. In December 2014, KSOU was awarded as the “Best Sports Institute” by AICTE during their National Level Sports Conclave held at Belgaum, Karnataka. cfa1e77820
